13 Jul 2012 | Strada and Terra run BMW mechanicals

Husqvarna is introducing two new models to the local market at the end of this year: the TS 650 Strada and TS 650 Terra. As the names suggest, the former is more road-oriented, whilethe latter has a little more dirt focus.

The Strada will sell with ABS as standard.

Both run mechanicals based on that used by BMW's F650 range.

The company says: "The TR 650 Strada and TR 650 Terra rely on the tried and tested basis of the G 650 GS by BMW Motorrad. However, this liquid-cooled single-cylinder power unit with two overhead camshafts and 652cc was extensively modified and its performance significantly enhanced for use in the two new Husqvarna models. It delivers 43kW (58 hp) at 7250rpm, developing its maximum torque of 60Nm at 5750 rpm. For those countries with graduated licencing, there is also there is also a reduced power version on offer as an ex works option with 35kW (48hp) at 7250rpm and 54Nm of torque at 5750rpm."
